At Pebbles Project, we believe that real change begins with people who care. Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do—bringing energy, compassion, and skills that help transform the lives of children and families from farming communities in the Western Cape.
Whether you’re supporting our education programmes, lending a hand at events, or sharing your expertise behind the scenes, your time and commitment have a lasting impact.
Volunteering with Pebbles Project is more than giving back, it’s about being part of a community that believes every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.
Volunteer With Us
- We aim to match volunteers with roles that align with their skills and expertise, as well as the needs of the organisation. It is therefore important to ensure that you complete the entire application form.
- All volunteers are required to provide a valid South African Police Clearance Certificate, International Child Protection Certificate (ICPC), and/or a relevant certified national background check certificate. Police clearance is a legal requirement under the Children’s Act 38 of 2005 (as amended by the Children’s Amendment Act 41 of 2007).
- Volunteers who spend 1-3 days at Pebbles Project or are assigned tasks without direct contact with children are exempt from obtaining a clearance certificate.
- Pebbles Project is unable to provide accommodation, transport, or assistance with finding either.
- We do not offer any paid volunteer opportunities.
- Volunteers are expected to use their own vehicle and must hold a valid driver’s licence.
- Volunteers under 18 years of age are not permitted to volunteer in the Pebbles Project After-School Club centres. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult, who must also complete the application form (if interested in long-term volunteering) or contact mignon@pebblesproject.co.za.
- For one-time group volunteering activities, please contact mignon@pebblesproject.co.za directly and do not complete the application form.

Two volunteers visited the Pebbles Academy and were so moved by the children that they decided to donate furniture for two classrooms. Their support had an immense impact and helped to create a nurturing learning environment. You can have the same impact.
