Ayden’s Story
Ayden’s Story
14-year-old Ayden was falling behind at school. His teacher described him as “a busy child, always fidgeting and struggling to concentrate.”
The Pebbles Project School Enrichment Programme (SEP) offers learners access to activities that promote physical, social, and emotional well-being. One of the activities introduced at the Pebbles Project After-School Club on the farm where Ayden lives was dancing; and Ayden decided to give it a try.
He soon discovered a deep passion for dance, which had a profoundly positive impact on his self-confidence and taught him the value of discipline.
Ayden had struggled with mathematics for years, but with the dedicated support of the Pebbles Project Maths Tutor, he achieved a remarkable turnaround, raising his average from 36% to 82% in just four months.
The Maths Tutor remarked: “Something shifted in Ayden once he discovered dance. He found joy, focus, and motivation, and it completely changed his approach to learning. That passion gave him the discipline to succeed, and the results speak for themselves. I couldn’t be prouder.”
Ayden is now optimistic about his future and is looking forward to starting high school next year.
The maths support offered through the SEP provides one-on-one and small group tutoring support at the Pebbles Project After-School Club centres, helping learners like Ayden improve their understanding of number concepts, strengthen reasoning and problem-solving skills, and build confidence in their academic abilities.
Thanks to the support of the Pebbles Project team and his newfound love for dance, Ayden has rediscovered a sense of purpose and pride in his learning. The Pebbles Project team cannot wait to see where his talent, determination, and joyful spirit take him next.
