Daniel’s story
Daniel’s Story
When 3-year-old Daniel first arrived at the Pebbles Project Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre, he was extremely shy and kept to himself.
One of the Pebbles Project First Thousand Days (FTD) Practitioners quickly noticed this and made a special effort to gently engage with him, ensuring he felt included in all classroom activities and lessons. She focused on creating a nurturing, supportive environment in which Daniel could feel safe and begin to thrive.
Gradually, Daniel started to come out of his shell. He began interacting with his peers during free play and started participating in group activities. “Daniel’s confidence is starting to shine. He’s even begun encouraging other learners during class activities,” his Practitioner shares. “It is such a gift to witness how beautifully Daniel is growing.”
One of the key aims of the Pebbles Project FTD Programme is to help children become emotionally and socially secure, nurturing their natural curiosity and playful spirit. Daniel’s story is a heart-warming example of how the right support can help a child flourish.
The Pebbles Project Early Care and Education Programme (ECEP) supports children from conception to the age of five through two sub-programmes: the First Thousand Days (FTD) Programme (0–2.5 years) and the Early Childhood Development (ECD) Programme (2.5–5 years). The ECEP is delivered at ECD centres located on Pebbles’ partner farms.
